China Retail Sales Rise 20.2% in January

| From January to February, the total retail sales of consumer goods reached 1743.2 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 20.2%. |

| In terms of different regions, the retail sales of consumer goods in urban areas was 1184.1 billion yuan, rose by 20.8% over the same period of the previous year; that of retail sales at and below the county level achieved 559.1 billion yuan, up by 18.9%. |

China's CPI Surges 8.7%

| The price of household facilities, articles and services was up by 2.1% year-on-year. |

| In February, consumer price index was up by 8.7% over the same month last year. Of the total, urban and rural areas rose 8.5% and 9.2% respectively. The price of foodstuff, non-foodstuff, consumable and services expanded 23.3, 1.6, 10.9, and 2% respectively. CPI made 2.6% growth over that in January of 2008. |

China PPI Rises 6.6% in February

| PPI for means of production increased 7.2% over last February. |

| In February, Producers’ Price Index for manufactured goods up by 6.6% from the same month last year; purchasing prices for raw material, fuels and power rose by 9.7%. Of the total, PPIs for mining and quarrying industry increased 25.3%; that for raw materials industry and processing industry correspondingly up by 8.8 and 4.1%; that for means of consumer goods grew 4.9%. |
